Aspinochilus rufus – Peach Earth Tiger
The Most Vibrant Earth Tiger You’ve Never Seen!
When people think of Old World tarantulas, they usually picture dark, intimidating spiders built for speed. Aspinochilus rufus, the Peach Earth Tiger, completely shatters that expectation. Native to Southeast Asia, this breathtaking species is considered one of the most vibrantly colored Old World tarantulas in existence, combining glowing peach, copper, burnt orange, cinnamon, and mahogany tones into a color palette that almost looks hand-painted. Every inch of this spider radiates warmth, making it one of the most visually unique Earth Tigers ever discovered. If you’re searching for an Old World that stands apart from the typical blacks and browns, the Peach Earth Tiger is truly in a league of its own.
A Living Sunset in Spider Form!
Few tarantulas possess the fiery beauty of Aspinochilus rufus. Even as juveniles they display rich peach and orange highlights, but with every molt those colors intensify until adults develop an incredible blend of warm copper, burnt orange, reddish-brown, and glowing peach hues. Their velvety legs, warm-toned carapace, and beautifully patterned abdomen create one of the richest color combinations found anywhere in the hobby. Under natural light, this species almost appears to glow, making it one of those rare tarantulas that constantly has people asking, “What species is that?” If you appreciate unique coloration over the typical blues and blacks, the Peach Earth Tiger is guaranteed to become one of the highlights of your collection.
Everything You Love About Old Worlds…
The Peach Earth Tiger isn’t just beautiful—it’s everything experienced keepers love about Old World tarantulas. Lightning-fast, highly intelligent, an aggressive feeder, and an incredible webber, this species creates elaborate tunnel systems and webbed retreats that are fascinating to observe. While it certainly commands respect due to its speed and defensive nature, it more than rewards experienced keepers with some of the most exciting natural behaviors found in the hobby. Watching one explode from its burrow to snatch prey is an experience that never gets old.
A Gem Reserved for Serious Collectors
Unlike many of the more commonly available Old World species, Aspinochilus rufus remains exceptionally uncommon in private collections. Its combination of breathtaking coloration, fascinating behavior, and true rarity has quietly made it one of the hobby’s best-kept secrets. For collectors looking to own something genuinely different—something very few people have ever seen in person—the Peach Earth Tiger delivers on every level. This is the kind of species that seasoned hobbyists immediately recognize and appreciate.

Aspinochilus rufus Care - The Peach Earth Tiger thrives in a secure terrestrial enclosure with 4–6 inches of slightly moist substrate, plenty of cork bark or natural cover to establish a deep burrow, and a shallow water dish that is always available. This species appreciates warm temperatures between 74–82°F, excellent ventilation, and enough space to construct extensive webbing throughout its enclosure. Feed appropriately sized prey every 1–2 weeks, allowing the upper layer of substrate to dry slightly while maintaining a bit of moisture deeper down. Due to its incredible speed and defensive nature, enclosure maintenance should always be performed carefully. For experienced keepers, however, Aspinochilus rufus is one of the most rewarding Old World tarantulas you can own—a truly spectacular display species whose fiery peach coloration only becomes more intense with every molt.
