Avicularia metallica, commonly known as the (Giant Metallic Pink Toe Tarantula), is an exceptional species of Pinktoe with two distinct color morphs, referred to as morphotypes in the hobby. Morphotype #1 (M1) Resembles the standard Guyana Pink Toe but grows significantly larger, reaching an impressive 7-inch leg span. Where as, Morphotype #2 (A. metallica “White Hair”) Features a remarkable blue body covered in striking white hairs, giving it a frosted, distinct appearance.

The Rarity of True White Hair Avicularia metallica

Genuine White Hair Avicularia metallica (Morphotype #2) are incredibly rare due to their exclusive origin in Brazil. Unfortunately, global politics and poor relations have resulted in U.S. and Brazil trade restrictions, making it impossible to import this species! Consequently, it has become increasingly difficult to find true white-haired specimens from a pure bloodline.  Moreover, due to taxonomic confusion within the Avicularia genus, many breeders are unaware of these two distinct morphotypes, further reducing the availability of true Avicularia metallica “White Hairs” the hobby.

Personality - Extremely docile, very tolerant of handling, slow moving and incapable of kicking hairs 

Adult size - 7+ inches DLS

Life span - 15+ years 

Care - Keep this species like any other Avicularia. Give them an arboreal enclosure that 3 to 5 times the size of their leg span and make sure you supply cross ventilation through out the enclosure! Keep there substrate moist not drenched and for water… i suggest misting the surface of the tarantulas tank once a week. This will allow the spider to drink water straight off the droplets that collect on the sides and web of there enclosure.
