Tiger Flame Pink Toe (Avicularia minatrix)

A Strikingly Unique and Potentially Communal Pinktoe

The Tiger Flame Pink Toe (Avicularia minatrix) is a one-of-a-kind species within the Avicularia genus. Unlike other Pinktoe tarantulas, this species retains its striking black and red tiger-striped abdomen for life, making it truly special. While most Avicularia slings display abdominal striping that fades with age, the Tiger Flame Pink Toe’s vibrant markings remain, creating a bold and eye-catching contrast against its pinkish-orange setae. Astonishingly, Adult females max out at just 3.75+ inches in diagonal leg span, making it one of the smallest and most charming Avicularia species. Its small size and youthful appearance give it an everlasting juvenile look, making it a truly endearing tarantula. Like wise, The Tiger Flame is known for being docile, tolerant of handling, and easy to care for, making it perfect for both novice and experienced collectors.

About These Slings

With that being said, these slings were produced in-house and are currently only a month old, measuring 0.5 inches in diagonal leg span (DLS). They are thriving on one small cricket per week and exhibit a fast growth rate, reaching breeding size in only 12–18 months!

Why keep this species?

Well for one, they’re criminally underrated! I personally keep over 10 Adult females just because I absolutely adore them. Their small yet bold presence, stunning coloration, and docile temperament make them an absolute joy to keep. Few tarantulas can match their endearing charm, and I can guarantee that you will love this species just as much as I do. Don’t miss your chance to own this rare and visually stunning Avicularia—get yours while they’re available! Feel free to reach out with any questions.

A Hidden Communal Species?

Contrary to popular belief, Avicularia minatrix may actually be a communal species! While it might sound unbelievable, I personally know two experienced keepers who have successfully raised A. minatrix in communal setups all the way to adulthood. Now that I’ve finally produced this species, Im putting this claim to the test with my very own 20-sling communal experiment.

You may be wondering, why this isn’t common knowledge, especially considering how exciting a communal setup of this species would be. The answer is simple: they’re expensive! With individual specimens selling for $90+ apiece, most keepers see it as too risky to attempt a communal. Instead, they opt to separate them and sell them individually. But I’m a man of science, and I’m determined to get to the bottom of whether A. minatrix can truly thrive communally.

Important Notes for Communal Keepers

1. These slings have never been separated - To ensure communal compatibility, they have been housed together since hatching.

2. Once separated, they are no longer communal - If you remove an individual from the group, it will no longer recognize its siblings as part of its colony.

3. Purchase at your own discretion - While I trust my sources, I won’t claim with absolute certainty that this species is 100% communal until I see it firsthand.

4. Requirements for a successful communal - it’s essential that you don’t give your communal too much room! I recommend you give a communal of two an enclosure (5x the legspan of the spider) For example - if your minatrix are 2 inches DLS i would keep them in a 10 inch enclosure. Anything bigger could result in your Tarantulas reverting back to their solitary lifestyle.
