The Avicularia variegata (Giant Blue/Red Grizzled Pinktoe) is one of the most extraordinary and sought-after tarantulas in the hobby—and for good reason. However, some keepers—including myself—believe this species might actually surpass Avicularia braunshauseni (Goliath Pink-Toe) in size! My own male specimen reached an unbelievable 7 inches, matching my adult female—an unprecedented size considering males are typically smaller. This leaves open the exciting possibility that adult females may exceed 8 inches, setting a new record as the largest Pink-Toe tarantula.
