Care & Husbandry Guide

🏠 Enclosure & Substrate

Provide a terrestrial enclosure with several inches of firmly packed substrate and a secure cork-bark hide or starter burrow. Give the tarantula substantially more floor space than climbing height and keep the distance between the substrate and lid relatively low. As a large, heavy-bodied terrestrial, excessive climbing height creates an unnecessary fall risk.

Maintain comfortable room temperatures around 70–78°F. Established juveniles and adults should be kept predominantly dry with good ventilation and permanent access to fresh water. Occasionally overflowing the water dish can provide localized moisture without keeping the entire enclosure wet. Avoid continuously damp or stagnant conditions.

 🍽️ Feeding & Water 

Offer growing specimens appropriately sized crickets or roaches approximately once per week, adjusting according to appetite and abdomen condition. Larger animals can be fed less frequently as their metabolism and growth slow. Extended fasting—particularly around premolt—is not unusual. Provide established juveniles and adults with a clean water dish at all times and remove uneaten prey during premolt.
