Care & Husbandry Guide

🏠 Enclosure & Substrate

A small terrestrial enclosure with 1-2 inches of compactable substrate works great for adults. Add a small piece of cork bark as a starter hide and expect them to dig underneath it, web the surrounding area, and create their own tunnel system. Because they’re a true dwarf species, even an adult female can comfortably live in a relatively compact enclosure.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

Keep this species around 72–78°F with moderate moisture and good ventilation. They prefer more moisture than dry-growing Mexican species, so keep the lower substrate slightly moist while allowing the surface to partially dry between waterings. Avoid completely dry conditions, but don’t keep the enclosure swampy or stagnant either.

 🍽️ Feeding & Water

These are excellent eaters with a surprisingly strong feeding response for their size. Slings and juveniles can be offered small crickets or roaches 1–2 times per week, while adults do well with small prey about once a week. Keep a small water dish available for larger specimens and remove uneaten prey during premolt.

🕷️ Species-Specific Care

Cyriocosmus perezmilesi are easy to care for and make a great choice for anyone wanting a colorful dwarf species. They appreciate a terrestrial setup with plenty of substrate for digging, a small hide, and slightly moist conditions. Despite their tiny size, they are active little tarantulas that web and burrow heavily and can become surprisingly confident once established.
