Chilean Royal Indigo - Euathlus sp. Marado
A Docile Grape with 8 Legs!
Very little is known about Euathlus sp. Marado, and that mystery only adds to its allure. What we do know is enough to turn heads: this is one of the most visually mesmerizing and temperamentally gentle species in the entire tarantula hobby. Native to a remote region of Chile and virtually unknown outside of a few small breeding projects, the “Chilean Royal Indigo” is as rare as it is radiant. Its deep violet-blue legs shimmer with iridescence, flashing with silvery undertones and sapphire brilliance like a gem lit from within. Despite how exotic it looks, this species is a dream to care for. True to its nickname, it’s slow-moving, soft-natured, and docile personality, make it a fantastic pick for both beginner keepers and seasoned collectors who enjoy a calm display tarantula that doesn’t vanish underground. These spiders functionally never kick hairs, rarely hide, and often sit proudly in the open for hours at a time. In the right light, they almost glow… and with such limited availability in the U.S. due to Chile’s strict export policies, owning one feels like keeping a secret treasure.
Size & Rarity
Euathlus sp. Marado stays compact, typically reaching 4 to 5+ inches DLS at full maturity. Growth is slow yet steady, and they remain active and visible throughout their development. That said, their lifespan is long, living upwards of 30+ years. Additionally, due to Chile’s strict export regulations, the Chilean Royal Indigo is nearly impossible to obtain as you can only find it through successful domestic breeding efforts. Which makes this particular listing even more valuable since these specimens come from a legitimate captive-bred lineage. So trust me when i say you won’t find this species readily available on mainstream tarantula markets as the Chilean Royal Indigo is the True crown jewel for serious Grammostola and Euathlus collectors.

If you’ve been looking for a species that checks every box — vibrant coloration, visible display behavior, gentle demeanor, and easy husbandry — the Euathlus sp. Marado is a dream come true. Rarely do we see such a uniquely colored hardy species that is both beginner-friendly and this hard to find. Don’t miss the chance to own a truly limited gem from Chile.

Personality - Calm, docile, slow moving, non-defensive, extremely tolerant of handling and overall one of the most tame tarantulas in the hobby!
Adult size - 5+ inches DLS
Lifespan - 30+ years
Growth rate - Very slow
Euathlus sp. Marado Care - The Chilean Green Flame is extremely low maintenance! Give them a terrestrial enclosure with 1 inch of substrate! Make sure their substrate is dry and give them a water dish! Their natural environment is very cool, but you’ll have no problem, keeping them a bit on the warmer side! If you want your Chilean Green Flame to grow faster 78°F Is what I recommend But if you want to stimulate their natural environment, you can keep them as cool as 65°F! It will just take forever for your spider to grow lol.
