Chilean Lava Cream (Grammostola conception)
A Truly Top of The Line Tarantula
If you’re looking for the pinnacle of tarantula keeping, look no further than the Grammostola conception — a true crown jewel among tarantulas. Endemic to a small, isolated region of Chile, this species is almost mythical in the hobby due to its extreme rarity and dazzling beauty. In the wild you will find the Chilean Lava Cream tucked away inside abandoned rodent burrows. However, Grammostola conception has adapted wonderfully to captivity, confidently roaming the open like a true terrestrial and a one of a kind showpiece. What makes this species so special isn’t just its scarcity, it’s their breathtaking coloration. As juveniles, they display soft pink and creamy white tones, but with each molt, they transform into adults that radiate fiery reds, glowing pinks, and frosted cream highlights. The result is one of the fluffiest, adorable and immensely charming tarantulas you’ll ever encounter. Not to mention, they have an extremely docile personality while simultaneously possessing a ferocious appetite.
Fluffy, Docile and Easy to Care For!
Adding to its appeal, G. conception is remarkably docile and easygoing, making it a perfect candidate for both beginner hobbyists and advanced collectors alike. It tolerates dry conditions with ease, similar to its close cousins in the Grammostola genus. But here’s the kicker: due to Chile’s strict 2006 export ban, only a tiny handful of this species made it into the U.S. hobby, and the ones here today trace back to that rare, pre-ban bloodline. That makes each individual not just a pet, but a piece of tarantula history! The female featured here is 2.5 inches in diagonal leg span and just starting to show her iconic pink glow — a sign of the fiery beauty she’ll one day grow into. Slings start off small (Roughly 0.5 of an inch) and can take upwards of 5 to 8 years to reach 3 inches in leg-span due to their exceptionally slow growth rate! If you’re searching for a tarantula that combines rarity, stunning coloration, and a gentle temperament, Grammostola conception belongs at the very top of your wish list. Reach out today — opportunities like this come once in a lifetime!

Grammostola conception Care - The Chilean Lava Cream is Very easy to care for. To start, Grammostola Conception hails from a part of Chile that stays cool year round and dry for half the year. As a result, I recommend keeping this species room temperature, with half of the substrate dry and the other half slightly moist. give larger specimens a water dish and make sure their enclosure is 3 to 5 times the spiders size! The species does not borrow in captivity so only 2 to 3 Inches of substrate is recommended! If you manage to do all that, your Chilean Lava Cream will thrive!
