Pikachu Crab Spider (Eight-Spotted Crab Spider)
Only Captive Bred Specimens in the USA!
Say hello to one of the most vibrant and elusive arachnids in the exotic invertebrate hobby! The Pikachu Crab Spider, affectionately known as the Eight Spotted Crab Spider. With its electric yellow body, rich black markings, and rounded gummy-like appearance, this spider is easily one of the most striking arachnids you’ll ever encounter. It’s not just beautiful—it looks like something straight out of a cartoon, earning its pop-culture-inspired name. Having said that, this species unfortunately still gets imported from the wild from time to time… However we strongly urge hobbyists to avoid purchasing wild-caught specimens. Not only do these imports often arrive in poor health and struggle to adapt to captivity, but they also place strain on delicate native populations. That said, the specimens offered here are 100% captive-bred—raised from eggsac to 0.75 to 1 inch juvenile’s over the course of 7+ months, right here in the U.S. They’ve been lovingly cared for and have already molted well over seven times, meaning they’re well past the fragile spiderling stage and primed for success in your care.
Gorgeous and Easy to Care For
Don’t let the Pikachu Crab Spider’s exotic appearance intimidate you—these stunning creatures are remarkably easy to care for. They thrive in arboreal enclosures with vertical space, cork bark, and light foliage. A gentle misting twice a week is more than enough to maintain ideal humidity levels. Feeding is a breeze—simply offer 2–4 small crickets twice a week, that are slightly smaller than the spider itself, and let them hunt at their own pace. Their feeding response is strong, and they often display surprisingly ferocious feeding behavior.
Docile, Slow Moving and Handleable!?
Despite their vibrant look, the Pikachu Crab Spider is surprisingly docile and calm in captivity. They’re slow-moving, rarely skittish, and tend to stay in view, making them an excellent display species. Their calm nature makes them a joy to observe and care for—perfect for both seasoned arachnid collectors and curious newcomers alike. Most importantly, Eight Legged Crab Spiders wont Dart away within the blink of an eye the moment you take them out of their enclosure. Contrary to the belief of many the Pikachu crab spider is actually very slow moving and have venom less potent than a bee sting! Thus, There is no risk when handling this species As the Pikachu spider will slowly walk on your hand, allowing you to observe its beauty up close and personal! That being said, this is your rare chance to own one of the most beautiful and only ethically sourced crab spiders available in the hobby today. With their cartoon-like coloration, calm disposition, and rarity in the captive market, the Pikachu Crab Spider is truly a showstopper, one that belongs in every serious collection.
