🏠 Enclosure & Substrate

Give an adult female a large vertical arboreal enclosure, roughly 12–16”+ tall or larger depending on her size, with a substantial cork-bark slab or hollow cork retreat. Add branches or additional anchor points and several inches of moisture-retentive substrate. A mature Lowland is a big Poecilotheria, so make sure she can fully stretch vertically without sacrificing a secure retreat.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

75–82°F is a great target range. This is the major difference from the Highland form. Lowland husbandry references generally recommend warmer conditions around 75–82°F or slightly higher, compared with the considerably cooler Highland population. Maintain moderate-to-high moisture with excellent ventilation and allow some surface drying between waterings.

🍽️ Feeding & Water

Lowlands have a strong feeding response and a medium-to-fast growth rate. Juveniles can be offered appropriately sized crickets or roaches around once weekly, with a large adult female fed according to body condition. Keep a clean water dish available at all times. Maintain hydration through the lower substrate rather than constantly spraying the entire enclosure.

🕷️ Species-Specific Care

P. subfusca Lowland likes a warmer, more humid arboreal setup than the Highland form. Give her plenty of vertical cork bark, a secure dark retreat, and good cross ventilation. Keep some consistent moisture in the substrate without turning the enclosure swampy. This form is considerably more comfortable with warmth than Highland subfusca, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they share the Ivory Ornamental name.
