The name Darth Maul Tarantula tells you almost everything you need to know about Psalmopoeus victori. This Mexican arboreal develops an incredible two-tone appearance, with a dark upper body contrasted by fiery red coloration across the abdomen and rear legs. It looks like someone designed a tarantula specifically to resemble the Star Wars villain.

The Famous “Half & Half”

P. victori is also known as the Mexican Half & Half, and once you see an adult it makes perfect sense. The spider almost looks divided into two different animals—the front half dark and stealthy, the back half exploding with red. Unlike species where the best coloration is hidden underneath, victori puts its signature colors right where you can see them.

Big, Fast Growing & Always Hungry

This isn’t a tiny display species either. Females can develop into large 6–7”+ arboreals, and juveniles grow quickly with consistent feeding. They’re enthusiastic hunters with excellent feeding responses, making them incredibly fun to raise from smaller specimens. Every molt brings more size, stronger contrast, and more of that signature Darth Maul appearance.
