Blue Dwarf Bottle Booty (Pseudohapalopus sp. Blue)

A Tiny Tarantula with Big Personality & a Brilliant Blue Booty!

The Blue Dwarf Bottle Booty (Pseudohapalopus sp. Blue) is an adorable and docile dwarf tarantula native to Colombia, highly sought after for its stunning blue iridescent abdomen, compact size, and surprisingly bold personality. Reaching only 3 inches in diagonal leg span (DLS), this species is tiny yet mighty! Unlike most dwarf tarantulas, which tend to be shy and reclusive, this species is remarkably confident-even strolling out onto your hand the moment you open its enclosure! Additionally many dwarf species (like the Pumpkin Patch) only live around 12+ years, However the Blue Dwarf Bottle Booty can live well over 20+ years!

Slow-Growing, But Worth the Wait

This species starts out at less than 1/10th of an inch and can take 5-7 years to fully develop its iconic blue coloration. While that means raising slings requires a ton of patience, purchasing a 2+ inch female guarantees you’ll save a lot of time while still giving you at least 15+ years with your adorable, bright blue spider! Being hardy this species can tolerate an extremely dry environment and can go well over a month without a meal! As a result, their minimal care requirements make this species ideal for all levels of keepers. Its gentle and relaxed demeanor makes it one of the best tarantulas for interaction. Not only is this one of the most visually striking dwarf tarantulas, it’s also one of the rarest and most underrated species in the hobby! Plus, they make great display pets as they don’t burrow and stay out on display at all times of the day!

If you’re looking for a small, beautiful, and handleable tarantula that’s built to last, the Blue Dwarf Bottle Booty is the perfect fit!

Don’t miss out on adding this adorable blue gem to your collection!💙✨

Care & Husbandry Guide

🏠 Enclosure & Substrate

Use a compact terrestrial setup with roughly 2–3+ inches of substrate, a small piece of cork bark, leaf litter, and plenty of webbing anchor points. Keep excess climbing height low. This species will quickly turn a simple setup into an intricate combination of web tunnels, burrows, and surface webbing.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

Keep around 72–78°F with moderate moisture and good airflow. Maintain some moisture in the lower substrate while allowing the surface to partially dry between waterings. Don’t keep the entire enclosure constantly wet. Provide a small water dish for established juveniles and adults.

 🍽️ Feeding & Water

These dwarfs have an excellent appetite. Juveniles can receive appropriately sized crickets, roaches, or pre-killed prey 1–2 times per week, while adults can generally be fed around once weekly depending on body condition. Place prey near the entrance of the webbed retreat and expect a surprisingly aggressive feeding response for such a small spider.

🕷️ Species-Specific Care

Despite its small size, Pseudohapalopus sp. “Blue” is an active little terrestrial that heavily modifies its enclosure with webbing and excavation. Give it several inches of compactable substrate, a small cork-bark starter retreat, and plenty of leaf litter or other anchor points. They don’t need much space, and smaller, well-structured enclosures make feeding and monitoring juveniles much easier.
