The Columbian Sunburst Tarantula (Theraphosidae sp. Kolumbia)
The Colombian Sunburst Tarantula (Theraphosidae sp. Kolumbia) is one of the most breathtaking and elusive tarantulas in the hobby, with fewer than 50 specimens known to exist in the U.S. This ultra-rare species captivates with its vivid golden-orange carapace, bold black patterning, and a fiery abdomen that glows with deep red and amber hues—making it an absolute masterpiece of natural design.
A Collectors Dream
At a maximum size of 5 inches DLS, this species stands out as a medium-sized, hardy New World tarantula that is both visually striking and a dream for collectors. Unlike many tarantulas of its size, the Colombian Sunburst is bold yet manageable, making it an excellent display species. Its remarkable contrast of jet-black legs, golden accents, and the signature sunburst pattern on its carapace and abdomen make it one of the most uniquely colored tarantulas available. Given its extraordinary rarity and stunning aesthetics, the Colombian Sunburst Tarantula is a once-in-a-lifetime acquisition for serious collectors. This is not just a tarantula—it’s a living jewel, a centerpiece for any high-end collection. With such limited availability in the U.S., securing one of these specimens ensures you’ll own a tarantula that few in the world have ever seen in person.
