Unlike most members of the Thrixopelma genus, which are predominantly terrestrial, this species exhibits semi-arboreal tendencies—making it a fascinating species to observe as it utilizes both vertical and ground spaces within its enclosure. Due to its notoriously slow growth rate. You see, it can take up to 8 years for this species to reach only 3 inches DLS. As a result, large individuals are almost never for sale, and if they are, there’s an extremely high likelihood there wild caught. That said, this specific specimen is captive breed and has been raised by yours truly all the way up to 4+ inches DLS, a true prize for any collector who values large and healthy tarantulas!

This species thrives in an environment that mimics its natural habitat—offering a combination of moist substrate, vertical cork bark, and moderate ventilation. While not aggressive, it is skittish and quick to retreat when disturbed, making it more suited for display rather than handling.
