The Peruvian Gold & Blue – Thrixopelma sp. Golden Blue

A Jewel from the Depths of the Peruvian Rainforest

Introducing one of the most visually stunning and under-appreciated tarantulas in the hobby—the Peruvian Gold & Blue. Hailing from the dense cloud forests and rugged terrains of Peru, this recently discovered Thrixopelma species is quickly rising to legendary status among collectors and enthusiasts. With limited access to its native habitat and virtually no exports from Peru, captive specimens are exceptionally rare and in high demand.

A Living Treasure with Radiant Coloration

True to its name, this species boasts a striking contrast of deep sapphire-blue legs and a burnished golden-bronze carapace that glows in natural light. Each molt reveals deeper coloration and shimmering undertones, making it a showstopper at every stage of development. The copper-tinged setae on the abdomen adds a fiery finish, perfectly completing this tarantula’s regal color palette. It’s a natural work of art that will leave even the most seasoned collectors in awe.

Calm, Curious, and Surprisingly Tame

Don’t let the bold colors fool you—this is not a high-strung species. In fact, the Peruvian Gold & Blue is admired for its mellow personality and gentle nature. Much like its relative Thrixopelma cyaneolum, this species is slow-moving, rarely flicks hairs, and often sits calmly in view. It’s the kind of spider you can admire daily without worry—a perfect balance of exotic beauty and keeper-friendly behavior.

Hardy and Low Maintenance—Perfect for All Experience Levels

This species thrives in a terrestrial setup with moderate humidity and good ventilation. Whether you’re a first-time tarantula keeper or a seasoned breeder, you’ll appreciate just how easy this spider is to care for. It tolerates a range of conditions and has a strong feeding response, making it a reliable eater and an excellent display animal.
